Business intelligence is broad topic that consists of the programs and strategies that help businesses make decisions and analyze data. This course teaches you key concepts in business intelligence, including data analysis, integration, and reporting.  The class format includes lecture, hands-on exercises, and real-world examples.

Finding agile solutions and delivering technology projects can be difficult. It can be especially difficult for a non-IT professional to understand how different technological elements work together. This is the recommended ninth class of the Technical Solutions Delivery Certificate. This certificate provides you with an overview of the programs and systems commonly used in projects so that you can communicate and collaborate effectively with your project team.

Performance Objectives: Upon completion of this course, you should be able to:

• Identify business intelligence in SQL Server involving integration, analysis, and reporting.
• Work with SQL Server Data Tools and Management Studio.
• Understand Integration Services and Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes.
• Identify Analysis Services OLAP cubes and MDX SQL queries.
• Use Reporting Services to summarize, format, and print data.
• Determine the right tool for the task at hand.
• Discuss front end tools (such as those in Excel) for business intelligence for end users.

Prerequisite: You should be familiar with using personal computers, the mouse, and keyboard. You should be able to use Windows to launch and close programs, navigate to information stored on the computer, and manage files and folders.

Intended Audience: This course is appropriate for anyone, but it is especially ideal for communications professionals engaged in project planning. It equips non-IT professionals with a basic understanding of the IT world.
