In this course, you will learn audio recording basics. We’ll cover setting up your space for recording, review of recording equipment, and introduce you to various software for capturing, processing, and editing your audio. We’ll discuss best practices for recording with an emphasis on voiceover. Using Adobe Audition, you’ll learn to record, edit, and clean up your recordings by reducing unwanted noise and improving sound quality. Finally, we’ll briefly explore sound design to enhance your videos with simple sound effects.

Performance Objectives: Upon completion of this course, you should be able to:

  • Understand basic recording techniques.
  • Optimize your recording space.
  • Capture high-quality audio.
  • Understand audio concepts such as noise floor, ambiance, and EQ presets.
  • Perform basic edits to audio files including cuts, transitions, and adjustments.
  • Reduce background noise for cleaner voiceover files.
  • Add basic sound design, effects, and music.
  • Export your audio files to .wav and .mp3 formats to pair with visual projects.
