Crews to plant 14-foot fir tree in Sylvester Park

Department of Enterprise Services' crews will plant a 14-foot fir tree in Sylvester Park today, April 18. The tree will mature at a height of approximately 30 feet.

There will be some noise impacts as well as impacts to pedestrian access in some portions of the park. Crews will use a tractor with forklifts and an excavator as they move and then plant the tree.

The new tree will be decorated in November for the holidays. In past years, a cut tree has been placed in the park and decorated. Planting a permanent holiday tree is a growing trend among entities that feature such trees, including many cities.
