Delivery of large replacement generator for Capitol Lake Dam to bring traffic impacts on Tuesday, May 2

On Tuesday, May 2 starting at 9 a.m. the Department of Enterprise Services will be replacing the generator that provides back-up emergency power for operation of the Capitol Lake Dam.

The existing generator has reached the end of its useful life. The old generator will be removed from the site and sent to the state surplus program. The surplus program receives and redistributes surplus items from state and public agencies to other state agencies, governmental entities and private non-profit organizations.

Traffic impacts

There will be traffic impacts during the delivery of the new generator and removal of the old generator. Intermittent delays will affect the intersection of Fifth Avenue, Deschutes Parkway and Olympic Street, which is the street connecting a roundabout to Fifth Avenue.

The Washington State Patrol will assist with traffic control during the delivery.
