Demolition of campus building nears completion

The demolition of the state-owned "IBM" building at the corner of Maple Park Avenue and Capitol Way is nearly complete.

The last of the demolition debris, including recyclable materials, has been hauled away, the foundation backfilled, new topsoil and irrigation lines installed. All that remains is the installation of new sod.

The project is slated to be complete by Jan. 18.

The state demolished the building, which was constructed in 1958, because of its poor condition and the excessive costs to bring it up to modern building codes.
