Enterprise Services wants to remind state government employees in Thurston County that established processes are in place to detect and handle suspicious mail.

The department's Consolidated Mail Services handles all incoming U.S. Postal Service mail with the state government zip code of 98504, which is unique to Thurston County. Employees are trained and updated regularly to identify signs of suspicious mail.

All letters and packages are sent through an X-ray machine to detect suspicious materials. Incidents are rare.
