Roof cleaning scheduled for two buildings on east Capitol Campus

A contractor hired by Enterprise Services will begin cleaning the rooftops of the Highways-Licenses Building and Office Building 2 on the east campus May 15, if the weather is dry.

Workers will pressure-wash the roofs using a light solvent to remove dirt and debris. Enterprise Services will control the air supply to ensure fumes, if any, do not enter the building air intakes.

The contractor, Snyder Roofing, will stage two water tanks that will catch all the water used to wash the roofs. The Highways-Licenses Building catch tank will be staged on the west side of the building off of the Washington Street "yellow" zoned area. The Office Building 2 catch tank will be staged on the east side of the building near the elevator on the asphalt close to Jefferson Street.

The project will take six days to complete — three days for each building. Tenants, visitors and passersby will hear the hum of a small engine during the cleaning process.
