Workers to rappel off campus building roof Aug. 7-9

A consultant hired by Enterprise Services will have workers rappelling off the roof of the Capitol Court building Aug. 7-9 as part of an inspection of the building exterior.

The building, near the intersection of Capitol Way and 11th Ave., is being inspected to identify likely sources of water leaks. The 2013 Legislature appropriated money to replace the 24-year-old roof and some of the windows, but the water could also be entering the building through failing mortar between the sandstone exterior. The roof and window replacement will be done in summer 2014.

The main entrance of the building, facing Capitol Way, will be closed on Aug. 6 while the consultant uses a lift to inspect that area. Visitor parking, at the front and rear of the building, will also be impacted Aug. 6-8. Visitors should use the visitor parking lot at the Natural Resources Building on those dates.
