If you oversee the work of others, then understanding the “ins” and “outs” of conflict resolution is imperative, especially if you want to maintain a peaceful and productive workplace. While conflict is unavoidable, there are steps that you can take to help your team (as well as yourself) resolve conflict and subsequently foster a work environment where employees thrive.
This course is designed to help you learn the skills to resolve interpersonal conflicts. You will explore the various types of conflict, and how human nature influences responses to conflict. Emphasis will be placed on learning how motivation and power influence conflict dynamics and reviewing methods for resolving conflict, including one-to-one, negotiation, arbitration, and mediation. You will leave the class with a repertoire of conflict resolution methods to apply to interpersonal and intra-group conflict situations as well as the ability to diagnose when each method is appropriate.
Performance Objectives: Upon completion of this course you should be able to:

- Use a step-by-step process for resolving conflict.
- Identify your own conflict resolution style and employ techniques to work with others’ styles.
