In 1989, the State of Washington celebrated its 100th anniversary. At that time the Governor’s Office issued the landmark Centennial Accord signed between the State and Federally recognized Indian Tribes in the State of Washington.
The Governor’s Office of Indian Affairs is responsible for promoting the government-to-government principles outlined in the Centennial Accord.
The Governor’s Office of Indian Affairs coordinates training to foster the spirit of cooperation and partnership in the continuing evolution of the government-to-government relationships. This course addresses the tribal historical perspective, legal issues, tribal sovereignty and tribal government.
