Annual festival to impact campus streets July 13-17

Capital Lakefair, the 59-year-old event that takes place along the shores of Capitol Lake, begins Wednesday, July 13 and ends Sunday, July 17.

Lakefair requires the temporary closure of several Capitol Campus and Olympia city streets. A couple of the closures begin before and continue after the actual event. Here is a list of street closures during Lakefair:

  • Water Street from 5th Avenue to 7th Avenue (next to Heritage Park) will be closed from Monday, July 11 through Monday, July 18, the day after Lakefair.
  • Legion Way from Water Street to Columbia Street will be closed from July 11 through Monday, July 18.
  • 7th Avenue from Water Street to Columbia Street will be closed from July 11 through Monday, July 18.
  • Deschutes Parkway from 5th Avenue to Lakeridge Drive will be closed from about 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday, July 15.
  • Deschutes Parkway will be completely closed from about noon to 8 p.m. on Saturday, July 16.
  • Washington Street from Legion Way to 7th Avenue (next to Sylvester Park) will be closed from about 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 16.
  • 11th Avenue from Capitol Way to Columbia Street will be closed from about 4 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 16. The south and north diagonals and Sid Snyder Avenue will also be closed from 4 to 7 p.m. that day.
