Enterprise Services issues permit for Friday, Jan. 12 rally

The Department of Enterprise Services issued a permit for a Friday, Jan. 12 rally on the Capitol Campus at which participants may be openly carrying firearms, as is allowed under state law.

The Rally 4 UR Rights event is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. and end at noon.

The event organizers – the Gun Rights Coalition – estimate that up to 150 people will attend.

Many participants are expected to openly carry firearms during the event, as allowed under state law. There is no prohibition against openly carrying guns in the public spaces of the Legislative Building or on the campus grounds.

As with many campus events, the Washington State Patrol (WSP) will have troopers on duty during the rally.

WSP advises anyone who perceives a threat on the Capitol grounds at any time to call 9-1-1.

All permitted events, rallies and other activities scheduled to take place on the Capitol Campus can be viewed on the Enterprise Services website.
