Heat, hot water disruptions to affect some campus buildings on Oct. 4

On Sunday, Oct 4, heat and hot water will be disrupted in seven buildings on the Capitol Campus from about 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. so the Department of Enterprise Services can repair a leak in the underground steam system.

Affected buildings include:

  • Highways-Licenses
  • Office Building 2
  • Natural Resources
  • State Archives
  • Temple of Justice
  • General Administration
  • Employment Security

Enterprise Services recently discovered a steam leak in the utility tunnel near the Highways-Licenses Building and Office Building 2. The leak must be repaired quickly to avoid damage to the system.

While the work is being performed, there will be momentary interruptions of steam heat and hot water to the seven buildings.

The campus powerhouse, the building with the tall smokestack next to Capitol Lake, burns natural gas to produce steam for heating and hot water in most campus buildings.
