May 21 event could affect parking and traffic on Capitol Campus

The Department of Enterprise Services has issued a permit for a second Poor People’s Campaign rally on the Washington State Capitol Campus.

Organizers estimate that 200-500 people could attend the May 21 event, which includes a 2 p.m. rally on the north steps of the Legislative Building.

The event could affect traffic and parking on the west Capitol Campus.

The rally is part of a 40-day national effort that was launched May 14. For the Capitol Campus, Enterprise Services has issued permits for additional Poor People’s Campaigns on May 28, June 4, June 11 and June 18 on the north steps of the Legislative Building. Organizers estimate that between 100 and 500 people will join the rallies each week.
