Memorial Day events planned for Capitol Campus May 28

Enterprise Services would like to remind people that the numerous war monuments and memorials on Capitol Campus traditionally draw heavy visitor traffic during Memorial Day weekend.

Two events that the Enterprise Services Capitol Security & Visitor Services (CSVS) issued permits for are expected to bring noise impacts as well.

Cannon fire and rifle salute
The Thurston County Memorial Day Celebration will include cannon fire from the flag circle at 11 a.m. and a rifle salute at noon. The event, sponsored by the Thurston County Veterans Council, begins at 10:30 a.m. in the Capitol Rotunda and finishes with the salute on the north steps of the Legislative Building and taps.

Motorcycles
Hundreds of motorcycles and riders will rumble onto campus for the Vietnam Vets/Legacy Vets Memorial Day Ride, also known as Olympia Rolling Thunder Run. The ceremony is scheduled from noon to 2 p.m. at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.

Enterprise Services manages the historic 486-acre Capitol Campus in Olympia which includes four parks and Capitol Lake.

A complete list of upcoming permitted campus events is available on the Enterprise Services website.
