Protesters plan to rally at Legislative Building later today

Up to 100 people are planning to rally on the north steps of the Legislative Building at about 3 p.m. this afternoon to protest a decision by local authorities not to dismiss charges against two men shot by Olympia police May 21.

The Department of Enterprise Services, which manages public events and activities on the Capitol Campus, said the protesters plan to move from the steps into the Capitol rotunda during the event.

Enterprise Services contracts with the Washington State Patrol for security at the Capitol Campus. The State Patrol will have troopers on duty, as usual, during the event.

The State Patrol advises anyone who perceives a threat on the capitol grounds at any time to call 9-1-1.

Event organizers will begin setting up at about 3 p.m. and post-rally cleanup will continue until about 5 p.m.
