Public invited to Sept. 15 discussion about State Capitol Planning

The public is invited to a Sept. 15 meeting to learn about and comment on planning in progress to envision the shape, size and location of future state Capitol Campus development.

The state's planning is focused on two important questions:

  • What are the opportunities for future state capitol construction?
  • What is the optimal location for a new campus combined heat and power plant?

In exploring the answers to these questions, planners at the Department of Enterprise Services are considering properties at the north and south edges of the west Capitol Campus, as well as state-owned property at 1007 Washington Street and the urban block that includes Centennial Park.

The planning for a new combined heat and power plant is leading to an east campus location for this critical support center that will replace the 1920-era powerhouse at the edge of Capitol Lake.

The public is invited to weigh in on the future development of the state Capitol Campus.

These topics will also be considered by the Capitol Campus Design Committee and the State Capitol Committee in upcoming, publicly-advertised meetings this fall.
