Veterans Day events

The Department of Enterprise Services has issued three permits for Veterans Day ceremonies for the Capitol Campus this year.

Today

The first event, from noon to 1 p.m. today, is the International Association of Workforce Professionals' Veterans Day ceremony. The rite, in its 25th year, starts at the World War II Memorial, proceeds to the Winged Victory Monument, then to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial and ends at the Korean War Memorial.

Saturday

A Veterans Day recognition ceremony runs from 8:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. Saturday at the Winged Victory Monument on the Capitol Campus. The event is sponsored by the Washington Veteran's Employee Resource Group (VERG), the Department of Enterprise Services, Office of Financial Management and the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Thurston County veterans will gather from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday for a ceremony in the Legislative Building, on the third floor mezzanine. The event is sponsored by the Thurston County Veterans Council. Four hundred people are expected to attend. The event will include cannon and rifle salutes near the north stairs of the Capitol Building.

Parking is free on the Capitol Campus on holidays.
