Campus road closure now scheduled for April 25

The concrete pour scheduled at the 1063 Block Replacement Project construction site scheduled for Tuesday, April 19 was postponed, and will now be done on Monday, April 25.

The work requires the closure of 11th Avenue in both directions from Capitol Way S. to Water Street SW, in front of the GA Building, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The work will bring heavy truck traffic to the construction site and nearby city streets, with concrete deliveries arriving every five to six minutes throughout the day. Once onsite, the concrete trucks will line up along 11th Avenue and backup to the pumpers. The sidewalk crossing at 11th Avenue and Columbia Street, near the GA Building, will be closed throughout the day.

The left-hand turn lane on northbound Capitol Way at the intersection with 11th Avenue will also be closed.

The 11th Avenue closure will require a temporary change to the route used by the Dash shuttle, the free bus that runs through the heart of downtown Olympia from the Capitol Campus to the Olympia Farmers Market. Go to the Intercity Transit webpage for more information.

Barricades will be placed at both ends of the road closure and flaggers will be on site to help manage traffic.
