Creating Accessible Multimedia Communications

This course provides a hands-on overview of how to create accessible videos and social media content that meet federal and state accessibility standards. You’ll explore captioning, transcripts, audio description, and inclusive design strategies for digital communication platforms.

Performance Objectives: After completing this course, you should be able to:

  • Explain the key accessibility requirements for multimedia content.
  • Create and edit captions and transcripts for videos.
  • Understand when and how to use audio description.
  • Apply accessibility best practices for social media posts, images, and videos.
  • Use tools and checklists to evaluate multimedia accessibility.
  • Integrate accessibility into content planning and publishing workflows.

Prerequisite: Basic familiarity with video editing or social media platforms is helpful.
