This is the meeting place of the Washington State House of Representatives when in session. Each of the ninety-eight representatives are elected to serve a two-year term of office with all members up for re-election every two years. The rostrum at the front of the chamber is where the Speaker of the House presides and where House support staff carry out administrative operations. The floor of the House drops two feet gradually, from back to front, to provide a theater style view of the rostrum. Three large electronic display boards are located above the rostrum. To the right and left of the center board are listed the names of each representative. When voting, each member's name appears in either green for a yes vote or red indicating a no vote. The center board shows the total of votes and the status of any bills under debate. Visitors can view House floor activity from the 4th floor viewing galleries.
