The State Reception Room
The State Reception Room is the grand decorative space of the Legislative Building and is considered the formal receiving area for dignitaries and heads of state. In addition to a formal receiving area, the room is often used for functions such as bill signing ceremonies, Washington State's electoral college meeting, and as a location for lawmakers to address constituent groups including students. Adorned with a variety of historic furnishings and displays, the room is decorated with some notable features such as:
- World's largest single-loom carpet, 1928, Mohawk Company of New York
- Seven-foot circular table, featuring intricate carvings on the base. (A gift of the architects to the state.)
- Italian picture book marble
- Tiffany glass-bead chandeliers
- Decorative hand carved plaster ceiling with an ornate sky light
