The Rotunda of the Legislative Building is the grand space directly beneath the interior dome. Rising 175 feet above the rotunda floor, the interior dome features massive concrete arches and beautiful ornamental marble and plaster work as well as the world's largest Tiffany chandelier. A four-foot polished bronze replica of the Washington State Seal adorns the rotunda floor.
Tiffany-designed firepots stand on four platforms in the Rotunda. The design was inspired by what actual Roman Firepots were thought to look like. In Rome, the firepots would have been lit with peat moss or oil to alert the Senate of the time to convene.
Flags representing the 39 counties of Washington State are also on display in the Rotunda.
Alaskan Tokeen marble covers the supports of the arches, and also lines the hallways and public areas of the building.
