Water leak repair on Legislative Building to impact some parking near building’s southwest corner today and tomorrow

A contractor hired by the Department of Enterprise Services will be using a lift truck to investigate and repair a suspected water leak that may originate in the parapet cap on the southwest corner of the Legislative building roof.

The lift truck may block access to some parking near the southwest corner of the building and Pleasant Lane on Thursday and Friday, Jan. 5 and 6.

Investigating leaks in this aging, historic building is a complex process – and many factors come into play including old design standards for water drainage, possible breaches where different building materials overlap, roofing issues and the age of prior updates or repair work.

Enterprise Services has conducted tests to look for potential breaches where leaks can occur – from examining caulking to flashing to drains to seals -- and is making repairs where there is evidence of breaches that would lead to water leaks.
