The Department of Enterprise Services will be closing a portion of Cherry Lane Southwest beginning Sept. 5 to replace the underground water main pipe for the Temple of Justice Building.

Scope & Impact: For safety, the road and sidewalks will be closed during this time. Vehicles and pedestrians should follow posted signs marking the detour route and avoid the active construction area.

Where: Portion of Cherry Lane Southwest and sidewalks between 12th Avenue Southwest and the Winged Victory Monument.

When: Tuesday, Sept. 5 through Wednesday, Sept. 27.

Why: DES needs to temporarily tear up the road to make repairs to the underground main water pipe that serves the Temple of Justice Building. This work is part of the ongoing Temple of Justice Systems Renewal project to address aging building systems.

This work is not near the Senator Cal Anderson memorial and recently replaced flowering Kwanzan cherry tree.

All work is weather dependent. The Washington State Department of Enterprise Services has contracted with UMC of Mukilteo, Washington for this effort.
