Basketball tournament to close campus streets July 20-21

The Department of Enterprise Services’ Capitol Security and Visitor Services has issued a permit for Capital City 3 on 3, a three-on-three basketball tournament, July 20-21st.

The event will affect parking on west campus beginning on Friday, July 19. The north diagonal, flag circle and Pleasant Lane (the west end of the Temple of Justice) parking areas will close at 5:30 p.m. Both areas will be closed to vehicle traffic the entire weekend. Additionally the Governor’s Mansion parking lot, Water Street (the portion of the road north of the Temple of Justice) and the switchback trail that leads to Capitol Lake will be closed on Sunday, July 21, at noon to begin preparations for Lakefair's fireworks.

The event, also marketed as the Capital City 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament, will run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day, and will feature activities on 27 different courts on the Capitol Campus.

Organizers estimate that 5,000 people will attend the event.

Enterprise Services manages the historic Capitol Campus in Olympia which includes five parks and Capitol Lake.
