Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Development

-

A Culture of Engagement: Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the Workplace Series is a foundational training. It is currently under development and will be released as development concludes. This will occur in fall 2021.

The goal of this series is to ensure every employee in Washington State general government is advancing toward and achieving the performing level of the diversity, equity, inclusion (DEI) competencies. This series emphasizes the emerging and developing level of competency. Five modules cover topics that are foundational and necessary to know, understand, and apply:

  • Why Diversity, Equity and Inclusion?
  • Self-Awareness
  • "Ism" Awareness
  • Racism
  • Working Together

All employees, regardless of agency, will have a shared language and level of understanding and behavior. We will achieve a more diverse, inclusive and respectful workplace through this common knowledge. View the course description.

The State Human Resources (SHR) DEI Training Committee developed the roadmap for these modules. A SHR directive, to be issued as the training officially launches, will clarify requirements for completions of the Series as per Executive Order 12-02 and Governor Inslee's April 2018 Memo.
