Editing Skills Review

Course Code: 01-03-EW55

This course helps you reach your next level of skill development and acquire essential editing skills for every form of writing. You will learn how to edit the work of others as well as your own, gain confidence as an editor, and learn the 'Dos' and 'Don’ts' of editing. The Gregg Reference Manual is used as our standard.

NOTE: This course supports the principles of Plain Talk.

Performance Objectives: Upon completion of this course, you should be able to:

  • Edit documents to ensure powerful writing happens all the time.
  • Edit documents to ensure key ideas appear up front for your customer.
  • Edit documents to ensure sentences provide parallel importance, focus on emphasis, and remove wordiness.
  • Write clutter-free sentences by removing 15 types of writing nightmares.
  • Write with acceptable tone even when having to say no.

Sales Tax Notice: Effective October 1, 2025 
In accordance with Washington State law (ESSB 5814), sales tax will be applied to all training services. In addition to the course cost, sales tax will be calculated based on your agency's location and added to your final invoice after the class is completed.
