Ethics in State Government (eLearning)

This course provides a basic understanding of the ethical standards in place for state employees and officials. This course covers what is required as a state employee under Ethics in Public Service law (RCW 42.52) and corresponding rules (WAC 292). Through scenarios, state employees will learn what conduct is appropriate and what opinions to take into consideration when facing ethical dilemmas. State employees will also gain a working knowledge of the role of the Executive Ethics Board as well as the complaint process. 

Performance Objectives: Upon completion of this course, you should be able to:

  • Identify violations of the Ethics in Public Service Act.
  • Define the Executive Ethics Board’s role in enforcing the Ethics in Public Service Act.
  • Access, review, and apply information and legal mandates.
