Government to Government Training
This one-day course, sponsored by the Governor’s Office of Indian Affairs (GOIA), provides state employees with a comprehensive understanding of Tribes, their people, and unique culture. Covering a tribal historical perspective, legal issues, tribal sovereignty, and tribal government, the training aims to enhance your awareness of the importance of multi-culturalism and your relationship with Washington state’s twenty-nine tribes. The session includes time for questions, and each attendee will receive a user-friendly reference book for further exploration of contemporary native culture.
The Governor's Office of Indian Affairs (GOIA) is mandated by Washington State's 1989 Centennial Accord to provide training to state agencies, employees, and constituent groups about the government-to-government relationship requirement. GOIA is dedicated to offering this training across the state, with the aim of fostering cooperation and partnership in the ongoing evolution of government-to-government relationships. For more information about the GOIA, please visit http://www.goia.wa.gov/.
