Expect noise, traffic, parking and pedestrian impacts during permitted events Friday, April 21

There will be noise, pedestrian, traffic, and parking impacts during rallies on West Capitol Campus the afternoon of Friday, April 21.

When

Both rallies occur from 3-5 p.m. with setup earlier in the afternoon.

Location and impacts

During the events on the North Steps of the Legislative Building and the South Steps of the Temple of Justice Building there will be no access to the lawn area in the Flag Circle, which is between the two event locations. The entrance to the Flag Circle from Cherry Lane will be closed. Flag circle traffic will flow one way, with an exit onto Pleasant Lane. Noise impacts may be higher than usual.

Permitted events

  • Children Cannot Consent – This event will be held on the North Steps of the Legislative Building. Rally organizer Conservative Ladies of Washington estimates attendance of 250.
  • Support Transgender Rights – This event will be held on the South Steps of the Temple of Justice. Rally organizer Unity in the Community estimates attendance of 100.

Additional information

  • Directional signs will be in place to help participants find their respective events.
  • A portion of the Legislative Building’s North Steps will be reserved for use by people who are entering and exiting the building and not involved in the event.
  • Areas will be set up nearby for people who come to exercise their free speech on other topics.
