The purpose of WACS is to: provide a forum for the interchange of ideas and information; and, to enhance the professionalism of governmental contract personnel. Objectives include: serving as a forum for the exchange of ideas and information about governmental contracting; identifying contracting issues of statewide significance; increasing the efficiency and cost effectiveness of the governmental contracting process; and, providing training to its members on governmental contracting issues. The Department of Enterprise Services with agency and higher education representatives make up the Contracts & Procurement Training Advisory Group (TAG). Procurement reform law (RCW 39.26.110) requires employees of state agencies and higher education who are responsible for developing, executing, or managing procurements or contracts to take DES approved training on best practices for state procurement.
