About the Project

Aerial photo of area where the project is taking place.

This project will:

  • Stop water from leaking into the Plaza Garage
  • Redesign a portion of the East Plaza to better complement the intended landscape design of the East Capitol Campus

The project will continue through December 2019. Public access to the East Plaza will be limited.

This is the current phase (phase B) of a multi-phased plan developed in 2006 to implement a master plan approved by the State Capitol Committee in 1997.

Project Updates

Oct. 15, 2019

Topsoil for landscaping continues to be delivered and distributed and irrigation lines are being installed. Landscape planting is scheduled to begin in the coming weeks. Trucks delivering the soil will continue to operate through the middle of November.

Flaggers are on-site to direct traffic at the Maple Park entrance to the Plaza Garage. Parkers who use the this entrance can access alternative entrances to avoid delays. Visitors can park at the Jefferson and Maple Park Visitor Lot.

Construction work to install drains continues to require temporary parking stall closures in the Plaza Garage, including stalls on level C. Closed stalls are clearly marked with orange cones and yellow caution tape.
