This course fulfills the requirement for all recruitment staff to receive training on recognizing and mitigating implicit bias contained in State HR Directive 20-02.



Mitigating Implicit Bias in the Hiring Process, a virtual instructor-led workshop, is designed to help learners understand explicit and implicit bias, and the impact these biases have on the hiring process. After completing this workshop, participants will be able to (1) identify the benefits of a diverse and representative workforce, (2) explain the harmful impact of implicit bias to applicants, organizations, and communities, and (3) plan for how to reduce the impact of bias on hiring decisions.

    Performance Objectives: Upon completion of this course you should be able to:

    • Identify the benefits of a diverse & representative workforce
    • Describe the harmful impact of implicit bias to applicants, organizations, & communities
    • Create a plan to counteract bias which may be present throughout the hiring process
