Changing World of Work and Employee Relations
This one-day course provides an overview of basic labor laws and rights of employees, unions, and management. It addresses the grievance process, the negotiation process, common elements of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), and many other issues relating to employee relations.
Performance Objectives: Upon completion of this course, you should be able to:
- Demonstrate an understanding of basic labor laws and employee rights.
- Understand of the discipline process.
- Understand the difference between union rights and employer rights.
- Describe common elements of an MOU.
- Prevent and process grievances.
- Understand the role of regulatory agencies.
- Use basic fact-finding and investigation techniques.
Intended Audience: Human resource professionals, managers, and supervisors.

In accordance with Washington State law (ESSB 5814), sales tax will be applied to all training services. In addition to the course cost, sales tax will be calculated based on your agency's location and added to your final invoice after the class is completed.
