Concrete pour, road closure now scheduled for June 10

The closure of 11th Avenue from Capitol Way to in front of the GA Building that had been scheduled to take place on June 7 will now happen on Friday, June 10.

The rescheduled road closure will begin at 6 a.m. and last until about 4 p.m.

The road closure is needed for the pouring of concrete at the 1063 Block Replacement Project construction site.

As with previous 11th Avenue closures, the June 10 concrete pour will cause a temporary change to the route used by the Dash shuttle, the free bus that runs through downtown Olympia from the Capitol Campus to the Olympia Farmers Market. Go to the Intercity Transit webpage for more information.

The work will also require the closure of the left-hand turn lane on northbound Capitol Way at the intersection with 11th Avenue. And the sidewalk crossing at 11th Avenue and Columbia Street, near the GA Building, will be closed.

Barricades will be placed at both ends of the road closure and flaggers will be on site to help manage traffic. The concrete work cannot be done in a heavy rain and will be rescheduled if necessary.

The June 10 concrete pour is for a section of the second floor of the five-story building. Some of the formwork for the third floor of the new building is already in place. The project schedule calls for the completion of the entire exterior framework of the building by the end of this summer. The new office building is scheduled to be completed by late summer 2017.
