Become a State Capitol Tour Guide

The Washington State Department of Enterprise Services is continually accepting applications for volunteer tour guides and greeters at the State Capitol. Volunteer positions at the Visitor Services division include:

  • Tour Guides lead tours at the state capitol, sharing its rich history, government process, architecture and symbolism.
  • Information Associates serve as greeters to visitors from around the world at the welcome desk, provide directions and answer basic questions about the building, government and state history.

Volunteers provide a valuable service to the public by imparting knowledge about state government, the historic Washington State Capitol Campus and the architecture of the buildings. Bring your life experience and knowledge as you positively engage visitors to the Capitol.

If you enjoy providing visitors with a fun and educational experience in a historic setting, one of our volunteer positions may be perfect for you!

To apply, complete our online application. Please note that if there is not an immediate need for volunteers, we will keep applications on file for a year and contact you if another need arises.
